Trappe Reeling After Murder-Suicide

Maryland State Police says it could be some time before they complete the investigation of the murder-suicide in Trappe. The barricade situation shut down Route 50 in Trappe for hours and caused a nearby elementary school to be locked down as a precaution. Investigators say 43-year-old John Spencer shot and killed his 53-year-old wife, Deborah then turned the gun on himself. Spencer had a criminal record, including kidnapping a child under 16. Published reports say Spencer had vowed to run away with the girl but was caught before that could happen.
