“Relax and enjoy the scenery as Queen Anne’s County Parks and Recreation handles the driving and parking on two December daytrips to New York City.
The first daytrip, December 6, is to see The Radio City Christmas Spectacular an enduring Christmas tradition that has dazzled audiences for 75 years. The Radio City Christmas Spectacular, stars the world famous Radio City Rockettes with their signature eye-high kicks, precision choreography and show stopping numbers such as the legendary “”Parade of the Wooden Soldiers”” and “”New York at Christmas.””
Audiences of all ages delight in witnessing Santa flying high above the crowd, seeing childhood dreams come true in the Nutcracker, and are touched as the meaning of Christmas is brought to life with the awe-inspiring Living Nativity. To see a video sneak pre-view of the show, visit Radio City’s website, http://christmas.radiocity.com. The $170 cost of the daytrip includes roundtrip charter transportation and a 2 p.m. show ticket. The deadline to register is November 6, unless tickets are sold out prior to that date. Children may attend with an adult. Free time has been built into the day’s schedule for the opportunity to sightsee or shop.
Since Radio City Music Hall opened on December 27, 1932 more than 300 million visitors from around the world have seen this major tourist attraction. In 1999, Radio City underwent an extensive restoration project including all new seats, carpeting and wallpaper, bringing back the site’s 1930s ambiance while incorporating today’s technology.
The second trip to the Big Apple is the December 20 New York Daytrip which includes roundtrip transportation on a comfy charter bus. We’ll drop off in the heart of Manhattan at Macys on 5th Avenue and you’ll have the day to sightsee and explore. Looking for ideas? Visit the Empire State Building’s Observatory, pay homage at Ground Zero, take a jaunt to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, or buy tickets on a double-decker sight seeing bus and see Manhattan from Wall Street to Harlem with all the flavorful neighborhoods in between. Children are welcome to attend with an adult.
Both New York City daytrips depart at 6:00 a.m. from Kent Island Park and Ride, 6:20 a.m. from Queen Anne’s County High School and are expected to return to those sites before 11:00 p.m.
