Deputy Collins responded to the Matapeake Middle School in reference to a found weapons complaint. Vice Principal Jon Marketto told police that he had received information of two students who were in possession of pocket knives. Vice principal Marketto spoke with the students individually and recovered a pocket knife off of each of the students.
One student advised that he had gone fishing the day before and wore the same pants to school and forgot the knife was in his pocket. The investigation of the second incident revealed that the student had brought the knife for another student to sharpen. Both knives had blades which were three inches or less and both students stated that there was no intent to harm anyone.
Both knives were seized and charges were referred to the Department of Juvenile Services.
