VFW Burglary Warrant Issued

On Wednesday night between Midnight and Thursday 0855 hrs, Unknown person(s) gained forced entry into the Grasonville VFW. The existing alarm system failed to report the burglary due to the phone lines being cut.

Once inside the building, the intruder(s) smashed five video slot machines with a large hammer or mallet to gain entry into the machine and removed the money. A safe at the location was also opened by using a torch and its contents were also removed. An estimated amount of over $20,000 was taken with an additional $30,000 in damages.

On January 8th, Deputies responded to a business alarm at the Moose Lodge and Deputy Jessie Kellogg and Dfc. Eric Goodman located several doors and a window open at that location. The deputies entered the building and searched it without locating anyone inside. Investigation showed that suspect(s) had attempted to disarm the video surveillance system and had damaged the ceiling tiles. Damage was estimated at $1,000.

Investigation was aided by a witness who observed two suspicious males in the area and wrote the tag number down of their car. That information then led Detective Russell to investigators with similar crimes from Pennsylvania to South Carolina. Based on this additional information, Russell applied for a felony warrant on Raymond Jonathan Flick (37) of Howard, Pennsylvania. Charges include Burglary 2nd Degree & Theft over $500.

Investigators are looking for Flick and others in a possible suspect vehicle, a red 1997 Ford passenger car with PA Tags HBA1384. Their current whereabouts is unknown and could be located anywhere on the east coast of the USA.

The investigation is continuing.

Detective Shane Russell of the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Unit has been assigned both cases.
