Members of the Dorchester General Hospital Auxiliary gathered for their quarterly meeting at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Cambridge for lunch and business updates. 

Jerry Walsh, Chief Operating Officer for Shore Health System, and Michael Joyce, MD, Chief of Emergency Medicine for Dorchester General Hospital, updated the Auxiliary about plans underway to expand and renovate the hospital Emergency Department. The project will be completed in phases over the next 18 months and will increase the number of patient treatment areas from 11 to 16 beds, add a two-bed triage area and redesign the nurses station and waiting areas.

The Dorchester General Hospital Auxiliary needs volunteers to support the many services it provides. Positions are available at the Robin Hood Shop, the Hospitality Shop, Information Desk, Emergency Department and in patient care areas.
