Warwick Elementary and Character Counts

Students at Warwick Elementary School in Secretary received a lesson from their Character Counts Coach Pat Lanahan about pet responsibility. Bruno, an 18 month old St. Bernard weighing 130 pounds visited with the children as they learned about the breed and what it takes to care for a huge pet. “Bruno is on loan by Top of The Bay Pet Lodge in Trappe where he is one of 6 St. Bernards waiting to be adopted”, states Lanahan. “He is very social and would be a great addition to a family with children but he requires a lot of space – a truly committed family that will love and take care of him.” Bruno’s previous owners lost their home due to the economy and moved to a small apartment where he could not join them. Students will donate their snack money to Top of the Bay to help feed and care for the dogs until they find appropriate homes. “Kids are very caring and want to make a difference – that is a good character tract”, adds Lanahan.
