Washington College And Kirby Purchase Stepney Farm

Roy Kirby Jr. and Washington College joined forces to acquire 80 acres of prime real estate. In an agreement announced June 30, the college became an investor with Kirby to buy the 75-acre Stepney Farm across the street from the Chestertown Armory. The agreement also gives the college an option to acquire a 5-acre riverfront parcel adjacent to its boathouse. Washington College President Baird Tipson says the school intends to sell its share of the property once Kirby gets necessary approvals to proceed with development.
