Three-hundred boats vied for $2.2-million in prize money, and it all came down to less than a half pound difference between first and third place at this year’s White Marlin Open. The winning catch was an 81-pound white hooked on the first day of the tournament by Tommy Hinkle of Berlin, netting him $950,000. The second place fish also weighed 81 pounds and was landed by Timonium fisherman Rodger Mooney, who was awarded just under $200.000. Brad Burgess from Maryland caught the third place 80.5-pound fish worth almost $70,000.
