Wicomico River Dredging Begins

To increase navigability of the Wicomico River, dredging is scheduled where a hydraulic pipeline will pump out sediment from a stretch of the river upstream from Upper Ferry to approximately two-and-a-half miles downstream from Salisbury. An estimated 72-cubic yards of slurry and water will be removed at a cost of over $830,000. Dredging is needed to maintain adequate navigation on the river, especially for petroleum and bulk commodities coming into Delmarva.
