The Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center in Grasonville is offering a monthly series of educational workshops free to the public designed to promote sustainability in the home. The Sustainable Living Series: “Workshops for the Ecologically Conscious Homeowner”, is designed to provide solutions for the homeowner on low –impact construction, remodeling, or daily home maintenance and raise awareness to the effects of suburban sprawl throughout the Chesapeake Bay watershed.

Heating and cooling your home uses more energy and drains more energy dollars than any other system in your home. Typically, 45% of your utility bill goes for heating and cooling. What’s more, heating and cooling systems in the United States together emit 150 million tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere each year, adding to global climate change. They also generate about 12% of the nation’s sulfur dioxide and 4% of the nitrogen oxides, the chief ingredients in acid rain. No matter what kind of heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning system you have in your house, you can save money and increase your comfort all the while helping the environment by properly maintaining and upgrading your equipment.

Bob Fox Services will present “High Efficiency HVAC Systems and Geothermal” on October 15th, 6 to 7:30pm at the new education and fine arts building at Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center. Bob Fox, President of Bob Fox Services is the presenter, and the program is open to the public. He will speak on how homeowner’s can make wise and eco-friendly decisions when purchasing their heating and air conditioning systems. He will discuss and demonstrate how the geothermal system operates, making it one of the most environmentally friendly ways to heat and cool your home. He will also show how ductless heating and air conditioning systems can save the consumer on their energy bills while staying “Green”.
