A Message from the QAC Sheriff

We are ahead of the mandate and Deputies have been using body-worn cameras for 6 years now!  This goes hand in hand with how our agency feels about complete transparency and gives us the means to be front-and-center on every call.  Legislation recently passed the MD Police Accountability Act of 2021 which states #LawEnforcement use body-worn cameras by July 2023.  Our Deputies are already on board with this requirement that body-worn cameras record and save video while on a call.  This can help identify officers that may be at risk and provide appropriate responses to reduce such risk.  Video footage can help us provide clear evidence without compromise.  Body-worn cameras are also designed to improve officer safety with real-time situational awareness.

We thank our Commissioners and residents for being behind us and understanding our goal of complete transparency and efficiency with operations!  Recorded video footage can be viewed by the public and help us identify issues, suspects, and how service calls were handled.

Body-worn cameras — It’s policing of the future and we are thankful to have been using it for 6 years now!
