A Night of Masquerade for LCA
Lighthouse Christian Academy presents “A Night of Masquerade”, its 13th Annual Live and Silent Auction on Saturday, April 26, from 6 to 9:30 PM at the Prospect Bay Country Club in Grasonville. The evening will include a dinner buffet, photo booth fun, games for fabulous prizes and of course live and silent auction excitement.
The Live Auction will include a variety of items and packages such as: a Thai Dinner for 10 cooked in your home, four Disney one-day hopper passes, a fishing excursion, a waterfront home party package, unique items made by the LCA classes, and much more. The silent auction will include packages for the women, men, and kids.
A major item we are featuring this year is a personalized guitar given to us by none other than Garth Brooks. Mr. Brooks will sign the guitar with the winner’s requested text before sending it.
How did LCA secure such an amazing auction item? One of the LCA parents, Mrs. Jodie Gray, volunteers for the production of the Kennedy Center Honors every year. This time she was assigned to host Garth Brooks for the weekend. This proved to be an honor and an amazing time getting to know this country music icon. Mr. Brooks was very interested in learning about the Classical education model at LCA and about life on the Eastern Shore.
At the end of the weekend, he hugged her and said, “you let me know if there’s anything that I can ever do for you.” Honors volunteers are not permitted to ask for anything of their guests, but since he opened the door, she said that an item for the Annual Auction would be wonderful. Mrs. Gray was thrilled with the unexpected offer of a personalized guitar, which was given specifically “because it was for a school”. In addition, Mr. Brooks said, “we’ll send a signed copy of Miss Yearwood’s cookbook, too.” He always refers to his wife as Miss Yearwood. The signed cookbook will be offered at the auction as a separate item for bid.
