Living Well, a six-week Chronic Disease Self-Management Workshop, can help you cope with the frustration, fatigue, pain and isolation often associated with chronic conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease and obesity. Topics covered include appropriate exercise and medications; effective communication with family and health professionals; proper nutrition and how to evaluate new treatments. Space is limited. Trauma Recovery Support Group

If you have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse or any other form of personal violence and trauma, reaching out for support is key to your recovery. The Trauma Recovery Support Group focuses on empowerment, learning new skills for managing the effects of trauma and building healthy relationships. Anne Arundel Medical Center’s in-house Abuse and Domestic Violence Program has professionally trained staff offering crisis and support services to victims of abuse and assault. Moving Forward invites all breast cancer patients, their families and caregivers to attend an open forum group to discuss the impact of a breast cancer diagnosis. Taking the Birthing World by CALM, HypnoBirthing is a five-week introduction to hypnotic techniques for birth. HypnoBirthing Practitioners are certified by Marie Mongan, the founder of HypnoBirthing. Participants learn: hypnotic rapport for birth companions, specific techniques of hypnotic anesthesia, the stages of labor and specific relaxation skills for each stage. Breastfeeding Basics

Breastfeeding mothers are welcome to this gathering held the second and fourth Thursday of each month. Group is led by a Certified Lactation Consultant. Discussion topics vary and are frequently determined by the participants. Program is very informal and welcoming to breastfeeding mothers regardless of experience or degree of commitment. Car Seat 101

Many children ride in car seats that are either inappropriate for their size, improperly installed, or the children are incorrectly secured in the seats. This very important clinic teaches expectant families how to properly install the car seat and secure the child in the car seat. Participants will see the steps to properly installing a car seat and have a chance to practice “hand-on” as well. You are encouraged to bring your own car seat. The class registration and fee is for two participants If you are expecting, we strongly recommend that you have your car seat installation checked at least six to eight weeks prior to your due date. BodyWorks is a program designed to help parents and caregivers of young adolescents (approximately ages 9 to 16) improve family eating and activity habits. Using the BodyWorks Toolkit, the program focuses on parents as role models and provides them with hands-on-tools to make small, specific behavior changes to prevent obesity and help maintain a healthy weight.
