The Easton Branch of AAUW (American Association of University Women) will be led on a private tour by Victoria Browning Wyeth of the Brandywine Museum on Saturday, October 23rd, 2010. Victoria Wyeth is the only grandchild of the artist Andrew Wyeth, the great-granddaughter of renowned illustrator N.C. Wyeth, and the niece of celebrated uncle, Jamie Wyeth. The tour will be followed by an Italian buffet at Mendenhall Inn.
Ms. Wyeth will open up her family to the public through her eyes, sharing her personal memories and insights gained through years of discussions with her grandfather and uncle about their work. Her commitment to her family’s art legacy and spirit is exemplified by her eagerness to share her family’s “story” through tours. Her tour will focus on subject matter, technique, family stories, and explanations of how each specific painting or drawing fits within the context of the Wyeth family portfolio, and within the broader context of American art.
The bus will leave from Creamery Lane (Easton Fire House) on October 23rd at 9:00 AM and from the Stop & Ride at Route 50 and Route 404 at 9:30 AM. The cost of $95.00 includes the museum entrance fee, tour by Victoria Wyeth, lunch at Mendenhall Inn and bus. The tour is limited to 35 people. Reservations must be made by October 12.
