The Academy Art Museum in Easton, MD, is pleased to announce that Constance Del Nero of Easton has joined the full-time staff, coordinating the Museum’s ArtREACH, Art-to-Go and other community programs. Del Nero worked part-time as ArtREACH Coordinator last year. She has been teaching/tutoring art and English for many years and holds a MEd in Art Education from Lesley University and a BA in Art History from New York University.
In her new role, Del Nero arranges for school groups and other community groups to view a Museum exhibition and then works with them on a related art or language arts project. Many students learn best through hands-on learning and retain fond memories of field trips that give them the opportunity to express themselves. The Museum’s ArtREACH Program uses exhibitions on display at the Museum as a starting point to engage students of all ages in history, science, culture, and art. Best of all, the program is free to participants from schools on the Mid Shore. Del Nero has also planned the “Art Plus” Program where students in Mid Shore schools come to the Museum for part of the day when they are off for school in-service days.
Del Nero comments, “I have always dreamed of working in a museum like the Academy Art Museum. Museums are incredible resources and I want people to experience them.” She adds, “I design projects to appeal to children and adults of all levels and backgrounds.”
The Museum also takes art to the community in its free Art-to-Go Program. The program reaches individuals who are not able to come to the Museum to experience art. Del Nero has also initiated “Field Trips for Grown-Ups,” where adults get to experiment with art by participating in art activities centered around the Museum’s exhibitions. There is a small materials fee for this program, which will be profiled in the Museum’s next magazine.
