On Wednesday May 9, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m., the Academy Art Museum will host its first-ever Portfolio Night. Representatives from three colleges: The Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, DC; the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Savannah, GA; and the Delaware College of Art and Design (DCAD) in Wilmington, DE.
High school students interested in a career in art and design, their parents, and educators are encouraged to attend this event. Students should bring a portfolio to receive feedback and pointers from the college representatives. Participants will find out the secrets to building a winning portfolio for art school, as well as learn what a career in art has to offer. There are a variety of careers in art today, including art administration, architecture, art education, computer graphics, design, fashion, graphic design, illustration, industrial and business design, photography, and video and film.
