The annual Members’ Exhibition recently on display at the Academy Art Museum in Easton, featured the artwork of over 200 Museum members, in a variety of media including in oil, watercolor, graphics, mixed media, photography, jewelry, painting, sculpture and other applications. This year, the Annual Members’ Exhibition was judged by Christopher Harrington, an Associate Professor in the Department of Fine Arts at University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES), and several awards were given.
Three Juror’s Choice Awards were given to Jane Robinson for acrylic painting, Ebb Tide; Maxine Taylor for her mixed media, Artifact; and Heather Crow for her watercolor painting, Reflections. The 4th Annual Learned Peabody Potter Award for Excellence in Drawing was given to Constance Del Nero for her drawing in graphite, Chance Encounters. The 4th Annual Jane Shannahan Offutt Memorial Award for Excellence in Painting was awarded to James Plumb for his oil painting, Self Portrait in Oval Mirror.
The 2nd Annual St. Michaels Art League and Plein Air Painters of the Eastern Shore Award for Best Landscape Painting in Oil, Acrylic or Watercolor went to Sharon Mills for her acrylic painting, Just Around the Bend. Paula S. Bell won the 6th Annual Clay Guild of the Eastern Shore Award for her ceramic in Stoneware/Raku Glaze, Break Through. The 17th Annual Peggy and T. Denton Miller, Jr. Award for Excellence in Contemporary Art in Any Media was given to Francis Chidsey for Mother and Child, a sculpture in wood. Jo Merrill was awarded the 25th Annual A. Brittain Banghart Award for Drawing, Painting, Sketching, or Sculpture Depicting the Human Figure for her pastel drawing, I’m Burying My Knee.
The 27th Annual Sam Hemming Award for Watercolor went to Barbara Zuehlke for her watercolor, Magnolia Aglow. The 35th Annual Samuel Sands Award for Work in Any Medium Depicting Sporting Activities went to Douglas Sefton for his oil painting, Fishing at Wye Plantation. The 37th Annual Lee Lawrie Award for the Best in Any Medium went to Matthew Hillier for his oil painting, Storm on the Bay. The Tidewater Camera Club Award for Excellence in Photography went to Joseph Soares for his photo, Docking Lines.

Admission to the Museum is $3 for non–members, children under 12 admitted free. The Museum is open Monday and Friday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. with extended hours on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday hours are 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The First Friday of each month, the Museum is open until 7 p.m. The Museum is located at 106 South St., Easton, MD, 21601.
