Academy Art Museum Offers Art in Wine Lecture by Local International Food Consultant and Wine Aficionado

Ron Sasiela of Easton, an international food consultant and wine aficionado, will present an illustrated lecture, “Art in Wine,” along with a pre-Thanksgiving wine tasting on Sunday, November 4, 2012, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the Academy Art Museum in Easton. Sasiela, President of Sasiela & Associates, LLC, and previously a senior executive with Icelandic USA, Inc, has travelled to Iceland, Europe, Asia and South America and will bring his unique food and wine experience to share with participants.

Because wine has been the subject of artists’ works since ancient Greece and Rome, Sasiela will take the audience through a chronological tour of the portrayal of wine making and wine consumption through the ages. The program will delve into the social, cultural and moral aspects of wine’s nexus to life including its amorous qualities. At the conclusion of his talk, Leanne Young, the wine buyer for Hair O’ the Dog Wine & Spirits, will conduct a special pre-Thanksgiving wine tasting. She will bring five wines suitable for the special meal that pair well with autumn foods. Participants who place an order at the event will receive a discount on the wine.

Sasiela comments, “It will be a delight to share the many fascinating stories about wine’s unique contextual fit in society as seen from various artists’ perspectives. Wine has found a central place in society from the earliest of recorded history. We’ll explore why, and how with a few surprises along the way!”

The cost of the lecture is $30 for Museum members and $65 for non-Museum members and includes the wine tasting.
