Adkins Arboretum will waive admission fees on Sat., March 7. The public is invited to explore the Arboretum’s 400 acres of native woodlands, wetlands, gardens and meadows along four miles of maintained paths and view the 2010 Art Competition exhibit, Discovering the Native Landscapes of Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Visitors can also enjoy an audio tour that provides lessons about the Arboretum’s plant communities and ecology, as well as the Arboretum’s bookstore and gift shop brimming with selections inspired by nature. Arboretum hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Adkins Arboretum is a 400-acre living museum, native garden and preserve at the headwaters of the Tuckahoe Creek in Caroline County. Open year round, the Arboretum offers educational programs for all ages about nature and gardening. Through its Campaign to Build a Green Legacy, the Arboretum will build a new LEED-certified Arboretum Center and entranceway to broaden educational offerings and research initiatives promoting best practices in conservation and land stewardship.
