Adventures in Health Science Summer Camp

All youth ages 10-14 are encouraged to participate in the 2010 Adventures in Health Science Camp. The camp will take place at Easton Memorial Hospital on July 21, 22, and 23 and will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.  The camp pre-registration fee of $30 includes each day’s lunch.  Youth will learn about medical and health science careers by touring hospital units, talking to health professionals, and participating in fun, interactive activities such as taking vital signs on a computerized mannequin “patient”.  Health care is a top employer in our local area, and this camp is a great way to learn about career fields that are available to you right here on the Shore!

The program is a combination of efforts of the University of Maryland Extension- (Caroline County / Talbot 4-H), Shore Health System and the Eastern Shore Area Health Education Center.  The goals include promoting health science awareness, supporting the two National 4-H Mission mandates — Healthy Living and Science, Engineering and Technology, and familiarizing youth with health fields to encourage them to pursue health careers.

Please call Talbot County 4-H at (410) 822-1244 or Caroline County 4-H at (410) 479-4030 for more information and to sign up by July 1.  “It is the policy of University of Maryland Extension that all persons have equal opportunity and access to programs and facilities without regard to race, color, gender, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, age, marital or parental status, or disability.”    If you need assistance to participate in this program, please call the 4-H office.
