All-Veterans Choir Spreads Joy in Queen Anne’s County

Fred McNeil, one of the original founders, tells us about the group:

What is the name of the group? M.A.S.H. Unit 21617 Choir & Glee Club.

When was it formed, by whom? What was the motivation? How many members? The group was formed in 2005 with the idea of getting veterans together who like to sing. Currently, the group has 20 members from all service branches. As an aside, our music director is Nancy Cook, former QACHS choir director and teacher.

What types of music do you perform… where do you perform? We sing all types of music; traditional holiday and seasonal songs such as Jingle Bells, Oh Danny Boy, You Are My Sunshine, YMCA. The group performs where invited. You can enjoy our music at the December 3 Centreville Christmas Tree lighting this year. We also perform on the 2nd and 4th Mondays at Compass. You might hear us at other town and county events; we’ve also entertained at the VA Hospital in DC.
