The Neighborhood Service Center (NSC) has announced the appointment of Andrew Hollis as the new executive director of its organization. Hollis currently serves as president/CEO of Delmarva Community Services Inc. (DCS), and also served as the previous county manager for Talbot County.
NSC is a non-profit community action agency that provides services and assistance to low-income families and elderly residents in Talbot County. Community action agencies equip low-income citizens with the tools and potential for becoming self-sufficient. NSC has been serving the low-income residents of the county since 1969. Beginning as an offshoot of the Tri County Community Action Agency, NSC began as a small nonprofit that provided not only emergency services but hope, stability and support to hundreds of families in Talbot County.
Chuck Callahan, NSC board chair states “The board of directors was searching for an individual with a proven management and fiscal track record, and strong leadership skills. The next executive director will be called upon to assist an even greater number of our citizens in need, and we believe that Andy is the right one to move the agency forward. The NSC has a strong history of serving our community, and Andy has demonstrated his ability to continue and grow our various programs. His name recognition in the community will help raise awareness of the NSC and its programs. His familiarity with the community, its citizens, as well as his connection with leaders in the county, will allow him to move quickly into the executive director position and fulfill its responsibilities.”
For over 20 years, Hollis has held several key leadership roles in government and nonprofit organizations on the Mid-Shore. He has provided leadership in day-to-day operations, administration, and fiscal matters. As president/CEO of DCS, and as county manager, he has been responsible for overseeing multiple departments, employees, and development and implementation of operating and capital budgets.
Hollis states, “I consider it a privilege to step into and lead an organization that has been assisting our citizens in need for over 50 years. The NSC is the safety net for those in our community that need various types of assistance. That need is significantly increasing, and we will be called upon to do even more. By expanding our collaboration with other community organizations and local governments, and growing our fundraising, we will be able to assist more people over time. Again, it is a privilege to work with like-minded community members committed to reducing poverty, revitalizing communities, and assisting low-income families and individuals to become self-sufficient.”
Hollis previously served as Executive Director of Upper Shore Aging, and as Town Manager of St, Michaels, Maryland. He resides in Easton with his wife Karen.
