Animal Adoption Show Tops 100 Episodes

QAC-TV Channel 7 recently filmed the 113th episode of “Data’s Place,” the animal adoption show filmed in conjunction with the Queen Anne’s County Department of Animal Services.

The show features cats and dogs available for adoption at the department’s shelter. QAC-TV videographer Andrea Hearn films and does the narrative for the show, giving a few details about each animal, including breed, age and temperament.

“Working on Data’s Place has been a truly rewarding experience. I enjoy this show on multiple levels, because not only am I filming but I am working with some of my favorite subjects,” said Hearn, who is a fan of animals large and small. “I really hope the show can inspire people to adopt some of the great pets at the shelter,” she said.

Animal Services Adoption Coordinator Helen Foley said the show is an important resource for the department and there have been numerous adoptions of animals by QAC-TV viewers. “People like to see what we have available before they drive here and the show really helps them make their decision,” said Foley. Foley and Tracy Dehoff choose the show’s featured pets and volunteers Laura Bell and Amy Hanneman are filmed in the show holding and walking the animals.

The show is named in honor of Data, a long time feline resident of the department who died last year at the ripe old age of 13 years. Data’s Place is filmed every other week and is aired daily on QAC-TV Channel 7.

Hearn also films other shows of interest to animal enthusiasts, including “Friendship Tails” with veterinarian Dr. Ashley Hughes who gives tips for keeping pets healthy, and segments featuring animal groups at the Queen Anne’s County 4-H Fair.
