Artist Heather Crow is donating her entire inventory of handmade paper landscapes to benefit the Talbot County Young Life organization. The Art Sale is set for Saturday, December 6th from 2:00pm – 5:00pm at the Trinity Cathedral located at 315 Goldsborough Street in Easton, MD. Light hors d’oeuvres will be provided. The sale consists of various pieces of handmade poured paper landscapes and matted prints of previous works. All paper is entirely handmade from recycled paper, pulped, cooked, and blended, poured onto screens, and then couched for about a month. When fully dry, the paper is augmented with text-image and mixed-media collage interpretations of poetry, prose, scripture or song. Many pieces have beaded elements, and all have the text hand-sewn onto the paper. The event includes a silent auction featuring Brigadoon a 2’x3’ piece framed with museum glass.

The Talbot County Young Life organization is close to Crow’s heart as she served four years as the Committee Chair and has seen the results of the organization resonate throughout the community. “During my twelve years of involvement with Talbot County Young Life, I saw the great benefits Young Life had for my students. I want to make sure this program stays available for future generations.” says Crow.

Young Life asserts that it doesn’t start with a program. It starts with adults concerned enough about kids to go to them, on their turf and in their culture, building bridges of authentic friendship. These relationships don’t happen overnight — they take time, patience, trust and consistency. Young Life believes in the power of presence. Kids’ lives are dramatically impacted when caring adults come alongside them, sharing God’s love with them. Because their leader believes in them, they begin to see that their lives have great worth, meaning and purpose.
