ArtScene | the Podcast features Gabby Pfeifer’s Return to the Eastern Shore through Dance

CENTREVILLE, MD—ArtScene | The Podcast Episode 36 features the inspiring full-circle journey of Gabby Pfeifer, a 2020 Maryland All-State Dancer and Kent Island High School graduate who trained under 2020 QACPS Teacher of the Year Amber Wright. Now a BFA graduate of Slippery Rock University, Gabby has returned to Queen Anne’s County with a new mission: to give back to the community that shaped her—as the first-ever intern for the Carole Cascio Fund for Mind Movement Dance Connections (CCF), recently promoted to CCF Associate Teaching Artist.

Gabby was welcomed into this groundbreaking role by CCF Executive Director Peter Pucci through his partnership with QACPS Supervisor of Fine Arts Michael Bell—sparked by a chance meeting at the Centreville Creamery. Since then, she has choreographed Frozen at Kent Island High School alongside Drama Director Kevin Reagan and created an original work for the QACHS Dance Company in collaboration with QACPS Performing Arts Lead Teacher Kristen Tyler.

In this moving episode, Gabby shares her passion for mentorship, her experiences as a visiting artist in elementary and middle school movement classes, and the story behind her original piece Inner Chaos, which became the first-ever QACHS dance work selected for the Maryland State Dance Showcase at Goucher College. She also offers inspiring words of wisdom for current high school dancers—encouraging them to stay grounded in their passion, trust the process, and keep moving forward through every stage of their journey.

She also reflects on her emotionally powerful restaging of Paul Taylor’s Company B solo set to “I Can Dream, Can’t I?”—taught to her by CCF Teaching Artist and former Paul Taylor dancer Amy Young. Through delivering masterclasses at Centreville and Stevensville Middle Schools, facilitating movement workshops in elementary schools, performing at events on the Carole Cascio Pickleball Courts or at Chesapeake College’s Eastern Shore Arts Festival, Gabby is already making a profound impact in the community.

Her passion for dance is deeply rooted—passed down from her great-grandmother, grandmother, and mother—and continues to evolve through her belief in movement as a transformative tool.

“Gabby’s story is about more than just coming home,” said host Michael Bell. “It’s about creating a lasting legacy, mentorship, and an opportunity for others to grow into their potential. She’s building something lasting here through the Carole Cascio Fund and our partnership.”
