Award-winning Amy Correia at Easton June 15th

The 11th Annual Independent Music Awards have just announced that Amy Correia’s You Go Your Way garnered a win for Best Folk Singer-Songwriter Album of 2011. Members of the IMA jury included such luminaries as Tom Waits, Kathleen Brennan, Suzanne Vega, Ozzy Osbourne and Shelby Lynne.

Amy Correia’s raw power and musical honesty have drawn comparisons to Cat Power, Tom Waits and Bonnie Raitt with “a lyrical dexterity akin to Bob Dylan’s” (Guitar World Magazine). The New York Times calls her “a singular talent.” Her fans agree, pitching in to raise more than $35,000 to make Correia’s third album, You Go Your Way, a critically acclaimed album that she released on her own after two album releases with EMI. The album’s strength led to her fortuitous meeting with legendary front-woman of the Pretenders, Chrissie Hynde, who saw Correia perform and on the spot invited her to open Hynde’s 28-city tour, including Easton, MD. You Go Your Way is a spirited ride, covering broad emotional and musical territory. Each song is strikingly individual with Amy’s convincing voice at the center: full of feeling, spontaneity and gravelly soul.
