Baked Beads Not Beans

Sure baked beans are delicious, but baked beads are fun! As part of the Queen Anne’s County Arts Council’s newly formed Early Morning Artists program in October, this is the first of three new offerings for young people. On Saturday, October 2, 9, or 16, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., students will join instructor Janice Colvin and learn how to make a mix of different colored beads using PMC clay. Colvin is a long-time jewelry maker and artist whose knowledge of the methods available for using PMC will dazzle the kids and ensure that they have some treasures to take home. Beads will be ‘cooked’ during class and ready to take home.

The deadline for registration is one week prior to each start date. Colvin has been teaching jewelry making and fabric crafts for over 10 yea4rs. She is co-owner of Sea Foam Jewels, fashioning casual to fine jewelry using sterling, imported crystal and glass beads. Fees are $20 per class for Arts Council Members, $25 for non-members.  The class will be held at the Centre for the Arts, 206 S. Commerce St., Centreville, MD. Call 410.758.2520 or email arts4u@arts4u.info for more information.
