The latest EcoCheck report card on the health of the Chesapeake Bay shows a C- from a group at the University of Maryland, representing a four-percent decline for 2010. The university’s Center for Environmental Science says the water quality and biological health indicators suffered due to higher rainfall and associated stormwater runoff flows. Acting Maryland Secretary of the Environment Robert Summers says the overall improvement in the health of the bay seen since 2003 is continuing. In 2009, University of Maryland researchers gave the bay’s health a “C” rating.
