An eleven-piece powerhouse group that breathes new life into Motown, funk, classic rock, and big band music is on tap for the final “Thursdays in the Park” concert. The Queen Anne’s County Arts Council’s popular free summer concert series ends with a performance by Bobby and the Believers. This eclectic, solid band has been a favorite of the Washington D.C. and Baltimore area music scenes for years and with good reason. The band really delivers with two lead vocalists, five flashy horn players and four rhythm and backup musicians.
Lead singers Joel Lewis and Kathy Stansbury shake things up with their flexible vocal range. Lewis is a former vocalist for the U.S. Naval Academy’s “Electric Brigade” while Stansbury’s strong gospel based music education influences her powerful vocal delivery. The rhythm section includes Randy Neilson, Kevin Crowley and Bill Adams. The horn section is made up of musicians Jon Schmidt, Steve Swan, Jeff Price and Brad Anderson. This talented mix of performers and artists always put on a show to remember.
The final concert of the Queen Anne’s County Arts Council’s “Thursdays in the Park” free season will be Thursday, August 23, from 7 to 9 pm and will be held at the Kent Island Yacht Club in Chester, Maryland. Food and beverages available for sale, no alcoholic beverages may be brought in.
