A generous gift from the Centreville National Bank to Bosom Buddies Charities, Inc. resulted in a million dollar milestone achievement for the Eastern Shore organization. The donation presented by Win Trice, President of CNB, raised the five year old charity over the million dollar mark.
Since its inception, the group founded by Susan Ponchock of Stevensville has pursued their mission to promote breast cancer awareness, encourage early detection, support treatment and celebrate healing. Their success has been profound.
In just five years they have provided a digital mammography machine and ultra-sound imaging equipment to the Anne Arundel Medical Center on Kent Island, funded the expansion of the Kent Island Breast Center and initiated monthly support group meetings for survivors, sponsored a Survivor Retreat this fall and are also funding a major ad campaign to remind women to get their mammograms.
In September a “Thanks A Million” party was held at Annie’s Paramount Restaurant on Kent Island to celebrate reaching the milestone and thank all the current and former committee members. Physicians and key members of the Kent Island Breast Center also attended the celebration.
The sixth Annual Bosom Buddies Ball will be held at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club on January 21, 2012.
