Breast Cancer Fundraiser a Success

Saturday, October 8, 2011 was the first annual “Save the Coconuts” sponsored by Coconut Joe’s Hawaiian Bar and Grill, Edgewater and Swan Cove Day Spa and Salon in Stevensville.

The event raised $6,000 for Bosom Buddies Charities and the Anne Arundel Medical’s Breast Center which provides services at both the eastern and western shore facilities.  Along with live music all the, they held a large silent auction, sold koozies, pink hair and pink feather extensions, pink cupcakes, lighting of the luminaries, other breast cancer related items, face painting, games for children, an ice luge and a 50/50 which was donated back to the charity.

They held our first “Bra Stretch” and were able to reach ¼ mile across the South River Bridge.  Don’t forget that they are still collecting bras with hopes of a stretch as long as the Bay Bridge in time!  There is an ongoing raffle for a trip to Ocean City and a Spa Day through October 31st at Coconut Joe’s as well as a raffle of great baskets, including a spa day at Swan Cove Day Spa and Salon through the end of October.

There will be an event at the Jetty Dock Bar on Saturday, October 15th as well offering pink hair, pink feathers and lots of fun, food and dancing.

This is  the 6th year that Swan Cove has raised money in the fight against finding a cure.  In previous years, Swan Cove has donated over $20,000 to breast cancer to help local charities.
