Longwood Gardens Trip
Make the Holidays shine like never before at the world’s premier horticultural showplace! The Grasonville Senior Center has planned a bus trip to Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA Friday December 9, 2011. Participants will delight in exquisite flowers, majestic trees and opulent architecture. A Longwood Gardens Christmas also includes a vast array of festive performances. There will be strolling Yuletide Singers dressed in Victorian period clothing. A guest organist will perform popular Christmas tunes during a sing-a-long of favorite Christmas Carols. This years Christmas display will feature Thomas the Train along with new bridges and new water features. Also included will be a Gospel Concert performance by Bethel AME Choir. A meal voucher for dinner at Longwood Cafe is included and lunch will be on-your-own at Mrs. Robino’s Italian Family Restaurant. Motor Coach will depart Kent Island Senior Center at 9:30AM and Grasonville Senior Center at 9:45AM. Cost for this fun filled day is $60 per person with a deposit of $20 due at time of sign up. Comedy Theatre & Amish Farm Tour
Grasonville Senior Center is sponsoring a fun-filled day trip to Lancaster County PA on Tuesday April 24, 2012. The fun begins with a buffet lunch and comedy show at Rainbow Dinner Theatre. The comedy drama show “The Dixie Swim Club” is full of funny, lovely, and touching situations as the members of a girl’s swim team reminisce with each other over a span of 30 years. The girls talk abut life, love, their bodies, aging and men, but all in good humor. The situations will leave one laughing hysterically and gasping for air! Following the show will be a guided farmhouse and property tour of an authentic Amish farm which tells the story of the Amish Lifestyle today. The grounds include a blacksmith shop, one room schoolhouse, a smokehouse market, village store featuring crafts and homemade goods, and barn with farm animals. Other highlights include meeting Pete the Mule! Motor Coach will depart Kent Island Senior Center at 8:45AM and Grasonville Senior Center at 9:00AM.
