Last call for runners! Adkins Arboretum will host its sixth annual Arbor Day Run Sat., April 9. Runners, walkers, families and nature enthusiasts are invited to enjoy an early spring morning.
The event features a 5K Run, a One-Mile Family Fun Run/Walk and a 100-yard dash for kids. Participants will catch glimpses of spring as they traverse the cross-country trail plotted along the Arboretum’s network of scenic forest and meadow paths. Registration begins at 8 a.m., with the Kids’ Dash at 8:45 a.m. The 5K Run commences at 9 a.m., and the Family Fun Run/Walk starts at 9:05 a.m.
Participants may register the day of the event. The 5K Run registration fee is $25. Registration for the Family Fun Run/Walk is $15 per family. All 5K Run participants will receive a tulip poplar seedling, Adkins Arboretum’s 2011 Native Tree of the Year. Refreshments will be provided for all participants. Adkins Arboretum is a 400-acre native garden and preserve at the headwaters of the Tuckahoe Creek in Caroline County.
