Musician Maggie Sansone will perform at the Centre for the Arts in Centreville, Maryland on Saturday, November 5. A world renowned musician, Sansone is best known for her skill and passionate playing of the hammered dulcimer. Those who have had the pleasure of seeing her perform also appreciate her humor and audience interaction. Will call reservations are now on sale for this first-time appearance at the Centre which is followed by an After Party featuring terrific food from the Emerald Isle and beyond, a cash bar, CD sales and signing. Maggie will be joined by several outstanding artists for an evening of song and music, some new, some ancient, all interwoven in celebration of Samhain. The Gaelic word means summer’s end and is the ancestor of our modern day Halloween observance.
Sansone’s music and pioneering artistry have brought the ringing beauty of her music to hundreds of thousands of music lovers around the world. She has been featured on CBS-TV Sunday Morning, and NPR’s All Things Considered, Performance Today, and The Thistle & Shamrock. As producer and performer, she performed at the Kennedy Center Concert Hall, National Geographic Grosvenor Auditorium and many other venues. She has earned numerous awards including the D.C. based WAMMIE, has authored hammered dulcimer music books published by Mel Bay Publications and is founder and CEO of Maggie’s Music record label. The label, which features over 50 albums distributed worldwide, is an eight time WAMMIE winner for “Record Label of the Year.”
Joining her on stage are Andrea Hoag on fiddle, Pat Egan performing vocals and guitar, Matt Bell playing bodran, percussion and Irish Step dancer Regan Riley, for what is sure to be an evening to remember.
The performance is at the Centre for the Arts at 206 S. Commerce Street in Centreville, Maryland. Tickets can be purchased before May 5 for $30 and for $35 at the door if seating is available.
