Driver/Owner to sign autographs and promote Driven2Honor veterans non-profit on May 28

Once known as a southern and Midwest sport, stock car racing is enjoying popularity all across the nation. Remarkably was one the fastest growing demographic in the fan base is women. Two weekends a year Eastern Shore fans get to join with friends and family at their home track Dover International Speedway. However, this year area families will get the chance to meet NASCAR driver and team owner Jennifer Jo Cobb at the Centreville Farmers’ Market.

Cobb will sign autographs and promote her veterans’ non-profit Driven2Honor on Wednesday, May 28 from 5 to 7 p.m. The Centreville Farmers’ Market is located in the Court House Square at Lawyers Row and Commerce Street in downtown Centreville.

Driver and owner of the #10 truck in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, Cobb has recently accomplished several historical feats in NASCAR’s Camping World Truck Series including:

  • highest finishing female driver in the overall points for a season (2010)
  • highest finish by a female driver in the series (6th place, 2011)
  • most starts by a female driver in the series (50+ 2012)

Cobb began racing at the grassroots level of NASCAR in Kansas City in 1991 though her dream of racing began when she was just eight-years-old. When she is not competing in the race truck she enjoys motivational speaking and working in media, marketing and advertising. Cobb also serves as a public speaker, entrepreneur and a corporate spokesperson. She has co-hosted a television program on Time Warner’s Metro Sports TV called Inside Motorsports and had a weekly feature on the home page of NASCAR.com called All Access with JJC.

In 2011, Cobb launched Driven2Honor (www.Driven2Honor.org), a non-profit to recognize the efforts and plights of female military members. Driven2Honor honors a female military member (past or current) with a VIP behind-the-scenes experience at every NASCAR event in which she competes. The non-profit is currently raising funds to help house homeless female veterans.

In addition to signing free autographs at the Centreville Farmers’ Market, Cobb will be selling Drive2Honor merchandise. Area veterans groups are helping to promote the event with the Centreville Main Street program. For more information, contact (410) 758-1180, ext. 17 or mainstreet@townofcentreville.org. “This NASCAR driver appearance is only one of many events that will take at the farmers’ market this year,” says Carol D’Agostino, Centreville Main Street manager. “Farmers’ markets are traditional places for people to not only buy farm-fresh produce and locally made products, but also to socialize with friends and neighbors. Creating activities that draw people to our downtown is important as we work to create a vibrant town,” she adds.
