In response to requests from residents at a February 2 meeting that speed limits on state Route 213 be lowered, a State Highway Administration official says he will meet again with the town in March to discuss data from a traffic study currently being conducted. A number of citizens spoke at a work session held by the Centreville Town Council with SHA representatives complaining that speeding on Route 213 makes the town more of a thoroughfare for vehicles passing through than a safe place to live for its residents.

Other issues raised included: specific problems with several intersections along the state road including Northbrook and Route 213, Routes 301 and 213, and Route 213 and the entrance to the Food Lion shopping center; the erratic function of a signal at Routes 213 and 301; long waits to turn left from southbound U.S. Route 301 to southbound Route 213; installation of a curb to deter drivers from turning left onto Route 213 as they leave the Food Lion shopping.
