The Chamber of Commerce is a valuable tool for local businesses, linking together professionals from different walks of life and from different types of businesses. Many members of the Chamber of Commerce also dedicate themselves to improving our community through fundraisers, direct aid, and more. Recently, Liberty Title and Escrow, a local settlement service, announced that they would be holding a blood drive at Cult Classic. I got the chance to talk to Lisa McCarthy, Customer Relations/Settlement Officer, to learn a little bit more about the blood drive and what inspired them to give back to the community.
Lisa has given blood before, and says it feels great to be able to give back. She is excited to share the opportunity of giving the gift of life with our com- munity. She also loves Cult Classic and the Kent Island Farmers’ Market, where the blood drive is taking place, and hopes to draw more people out to these local community hotspots.
The blood drive is scheduled for Thursday, August 4 from 12N-6pm at Cult Classic. This provides a wonderful opportunity to support your community in several ways… through a blood donation to help someone in need; by supporting Shop Local at the Kent Island Farmers’ Market; and, by learn- ing more about Cult Classic and everything they have to offer. As an extra benefit, raffles will be held for those donating blood on August 4th.
Lisa is also proud to note that she and other members of Liberty Title are members of Power of 100, Chesapeake Women Who Care Giving Circle.
At the giving circle’s spring meeting, the group raised $9,300 for Mid-Shore Council on Family Violence. In only 4 meetings, Power of 100 has raised $35,700 for local organizations. To join the group or learn more, visit www. powerof100chesapeake.com.
