On Saturday, October 27 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., the Academy Art Museum will sponsor an Introduction to Planned Giving with local attorney Charles T. Capute. The presentation will take place at the Museum and will include an overview of the many options for combining philanthropic interests with prudent financial planning. According to Beth Jones, Director of Membership and Development at the Museum, “Alternatives like charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, bequests, and life insurance policies allow donors to enjoy their assets today while helping to ensure a bright future for their favorite nonprofits.”
Capute completed his undergraduate degree Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio and his law degree from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. He worked with trusts and estates for over 30 years, opening his own firm Charles T. Capute, LLC in 2002. In addition to being a lecturer for the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy, Capute has served in many leadership capacities in the community, including his current positions as Chairman of the Memorial Hospital Foundation and Chairman of the Salisbury University Foundation. Past chairmanships have included the Mid-Shore Community Foundation, the Academy Art Museum, and the 1993 Talbot County YMCA Capital Campaign.
Capute’s presentation will provide basic information and will be followed by a question and answer period. The program is free, and pre-registration is encouraged. Light refreshments will be served. To register, visit academyartmuseum.org or call 410-822-2787.
