Chesapeake Bay Tour de Cure Set To Raise Funds for Diabetes Research May 19; Cyclists Will Tour Maryland’s Eastern Shore

More than 500 cyclists are expected to take Maryland’s Eastern Shore by storm on May 19 as the Chesapeake Bay Tour De Cure sets off to raise $200,000 for diabetes research.

Diabetes is a national epidemic and one that affects Maryland and the Eastern Shore communities even greater proportions.

The event marks the first time that a Tour de Cure, a national event organized by the American Diabetes Association, will take place on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

Event highlights:

•Cycle through some of the most beautiful roads in Talbot County. Riders have a choice of 10,15,25,55 and 100 mile routes that are fully supported with rest stops and safety and gear vehicles. Whether you are an experienced cyclist or a recreational rider, there is a route for you.

•Live band performance by Chester River Runoff will take place the day of the event, May 19 to welcome returning riders.

•Attendees will enjoy breakfast, warm-up activities, lunch, post-ride beer, massages, team photos, lots of family activities and fun for all.

•Learn how to eat well and live well in the Stop Diabetes Pavilion presented by Shore Health System featuring interactive learning and give-aways from all of our sponsors to inspire everyone to live healthy.

•Experience the new high tech and high touch personal approach to wellness from Hearthstone Health and Fitness where highly trained professionals use a comprehensive approach to achieving optimal health.

•The course will begin at the Talbot County Community Center. Minimum fund raising for anyone who participates is $200. All riders who generate $1,000 or more will be invited to a VIP party on Friday, May 18 at Cottingham Farm featuring chef’s tables from Scossa, Brasserie Brightwell and Out of Fire and a performance by Kentavius Jones, a local indie/rock/soul musician.
