The Chesapeake Film Festival (CFF) announces its first Oscar’s Benefit Gala to be held Sunday, February 26, 2012 from 6:00-10:00 PM at The Avalon Theatre in historic Easton. The event will stream the 84th Academy Awards pre-show at 6:00 pm EST with the official awards at 7:00 PM EST. CFF and Talbot Hospice are partnering to support their joint missions of celebrating life. The official theme for the 84th Academy Awards is “Life-Camera-Action” and in Talbot County, the Hospice Foundation is committed to celebrating life while offering hope, compassionate support and services to all community members facing end-of-life issues. CFF’s commitment to life is to showcase broadly focused films to illuminate both the diversity and the universality of the human condition.
“At Talbot Hospice, we believe that every last moment of life can be lived to the fullest and we are thrilled to partner with the CFF as this organization uses film as the artistic vehicle to help us connect with our shared and individual life experiences,” remarks Julie Crocker, Talbot Hospice’s Eexecutive Ddirector.
“While supporting Hospice’s mission, CFF supports their own mission of education and outreach through meaningful community partnerships and the art of motion pictures,” comments new CFF Executive Director, Liza Ledford. “Art, especially film, reminds us of our universal human experiences and CFF is proud to celebrate life through film with Talbot Hospice and our community.”
The gala event begins with a red carpet entrance, and guests are invited to dress in their best “Oscar Attire” and be photographed with friends and family as they arrive. Hors d’oeuvres and wines from the DelMarVa region will be served and commercial breaks will be hosted by a local emcee introducing live entertainment and auction items whose sale will benefit the CFF and Talbot Hospice.
“This event launches CFF’s 5th year and re-introduces our mission to the community,” continues Ledford. “Celebrating life in film and rolling out the red carpet with Talbot Hospice is definitely a great way to start 2012.”
