The Chester River Hospital Center made a special donation to the RESET Program allowing further expansion to better serve Kent County.  RESET is an alternative sentencing program for the Courts, State’s Attorney, Health Department, Juvenile Services and other county and state agencies for those young people who have fallen victim to drug and alcohol use/abuse.  RESET also provides an early intervention education opportunity for concern parents for their children.

The RESET Program was initiated in March 2009 and has served over 65 young people who are between the ages of 14 -24 allowing them an educational experience to avoid a criminal record.  RESET continues to serve Kent, Queen Anne’s and upper Caroline counties.  The program requires attending four classes, three conducted on Friday evenings and one class on Saturday evening from 5:45 pm until 9:00 pm.  The program utilizes the Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office, Chester River Hospital, Queen Anne’s County Circuit Court and the Queen Anne’s County Detention Center.  Expansion into Kent will include the use of the Emergency Operations Center on Vickers Drive, Chestertown.  A student fee allows RESET to be provided without cost our taxpayers.

Chester River Hospital not only made this donation, but offers the use of their facility along with having three staff members as volunteers in the program.  The students visit the hospital with the theme “what happens from accident scene to shock trauma” which involves a tour of the emergency department.
