A Delaware man was charged with negligent driving and driving without a license after he allegedly rammed into the back of a stopped vehicle in downtown Chestertown and then fled the scene. Joseph John Craig, 50, of New Castle, Del., also was charged with driving on a suspended license, reckless driving and failure to remain at the scene of an accident. Police identified the other driver as Linda Stedman, 69, of St. Michaels. She was operating a 2010 Lincoln south on High Street and was stopped at the red light at Spring Street. Craig, driving a black 2007 Chrysler 300, allegedly struck Stedman’s car from behind, backed up, and then fled south on High Street and out of town. According to police, a witness pursued Craig over the Chester River Bridge and into Queen Anne’s County. A broadcast was put out for Craig’s car.
