The annual festival draws teachers, students and community members to campus to celebrate books, authors and illustrators who inspire great reading for children and young adults. Two themes share the stage this year: “Inspiring the Reluctant Reader” and “Literature and Environmental Stewardship.” The festival includes author panels and lectures, school visits and the Green Earth Book Awards.

Events commence Thursday, April 8, in Holloway Hall’s Great Hall. Jointly sponsored by SU and the Newton Marasco Foundation, the Green Earth Book Awards are bestowed upon selected authors and illustrators whose books contribute to environmental awareness and stewardship for children and young adults. Awards are given in the categories “Children’s Fiction,” “Picture Books,” “Nonfiction” and “YoungAdult Fiction.” The GEBA recipients are recognized during the Children’s Literature Festival.
