Children’s Book Week

Kent County Public Library is planning some special family events May 10 to May 14th for  CHILDREN’S BOOK WEEK.   Since 1910 Children’s Book Week has been celebrated, in order to make the enjoyment of children’s books an essential part of America and enhance the public perception of the importance of reading.

Families are invited to a special story time  featuring  Curious George, the  monkey.  He will visit Chestertown Branch, Tuesday, May 11th at 10:00 A.M.  and the North County Branch on Thursday, May  13th at 10:30 A.M.  Please call the library to register for either  storytime at  410-778-3636.

Local author, Jennifer Keats Curtis visits on Wednesday evening May 12th  in celebration of Children’s Book Week. .  Her books focus on protecting wildlife found in the Mid-Atlantic region.   She will read aloud her book, Baby’s Owl’s Rescue and talk about caring for local animals. In addition she wrote Osprey Adventure, Turtles in My Sandbox and more.    Her books will be available for purchase.

There will be an art exhibit of local children’s book illustrator, Laura Rankin will exhibit her art work at the library during Children’s Book Week.

Children who sign up for a library card will get a gift bag which includes a free book.
