Chloe’s Corner: Interviews, Reviews, and the Point of View from a Local Teen

the unlikely (266 x 400)At this moment, I am half-typing, half-finishing a book. The name of the book is “The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry” and it is great.

Now, I know what you’re thinking. “The title of this book makes it sound boring.” Trust me, I agree. When my mom recommended that I read this book, I was a little put off. Not only did the title sound boring, but my mom read it in a book club, which completely dissuaded me.

After a week of leaving it alone, I began to read. And was immediately in love. The book is so well written, has such a great story line, and is completely well done. Not only is it good, but is quite short as well.

“The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry” is about an older man named (of course…) Harold Fry who decides to walk to “save” his old friend, Queenie Hennessy, from dying from terminal cancer. There are a few complications to his plan. One, Harold lives hundreds of miles away from Queenie. Two, when walking by himself, he encounters many memories and ghosts of his past that change him completely.

And three, Harold has left his wife, Maureen, at home. And Maureen has a set of plans all her own.

If you’re not into the book via this summary, I would suggest just going and picking it up now. Just by starting to read, you will immediately be enticed.

Really. Trust me. Again.
