Reading Between the Lines
An interactive course designed to teach adults the basics of music reading and sharpen one’s ability to read, sing or play music.  Taught over eleven weeks, the class will offer a systematic approach to understanding music notation and theory increasing one’s ability to participate in musical activities.

A Survey of Christian Hymnody
For centuries, the faith community has expressed its beliefs and experiences through its musical language.  Learn how congregational singing has changed since the earliest biblical accounts, how modern day expressions were shaped through a continuous heritage, and what congregational music may look like in tomorrow’s church.  Text fee: $30

The French Connection

The Music Ministry of Christ Church Easton will offer a free lecture based on the music of four French composers of sacred music on Thursday, October 14 at 7:00 p.m. at Christ Church.  Class participants will then attend a concert presented by the Cathedral Choral Society and Orchestra at the Washington National Cathedral on Sunday, October 17 at 4:00 p.m. The program will feature Messe Solennelle by Louis Vierne, Mass, Op.130 by Joseph Jongen,
Poème Héroïque by Marcel Dupré, and Psalm 24 by Lili Boulanger.  Tickets for the concert are $46/$58/$66.  To make a reservation for the lecture or to order tickets, call 410-822-2677 by September 22.
