CHURCH HILL THEATRE ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR ITS JANUARY PRODUCTION, NEIL SIMON’S “LOST IN YONKERS”
Auditions for Church Hill Theatre’s January production of Neil Simon’s memory play, Lost In Yonkers will be held on Saturday, October 18 from 11am-2pm, Monday, October 20 from 6:30-9pm, and Wednesday October 22 from 6:30-9pm.
Director Charles “Pat” Patterson is seeking actors to audition for Church Hill Theatre’s production of Neil Simon’s play, Lost In Yonkers. We welcome actors of all ages, sizes, and levels of skill and experience. The show will be performed at Church Hill Theatre opening January 16th through February 1, 2015, Friday and Saturday nights with Sunday matinees. Technicians are also needed for this play land should come to one of the auditions to sign on as part of the technical staff.
This memory play is set in a Yonkers in 1942. The hit Broadway production featured Irene Worth, Mercedes Ruehl and Kevin Spacey in award-winning performances. Bella is 35-years-old, mentally challenged and living at home with her mother, stern Grandma Kurnitz. As the play opens, ne’r do-well son Eddie deposits his two young sons on the old lady’s doorstep. He is financially strapped and taking to the road as a salesman. The boys are left to contend with Grandma, with Bella and her secret romance, and with Louie, her brother, a small-time hoodlum in a strange new world called Yonkers.
We are encouraging auditions for the following roles:
A young man, ages 16-18 (Jay),
A young boy, ages 12-14 (Arty),
Their father, a man in 40’s (Eddie)
A woman in early to mid-30’s (Bella)
A woman in her late 60’s early 70” (Grandma Kurnitz)
A woman in her late 30s or 40s (Aunt Gert)
A man in his mid-30’s, Eddie’s brother (Louie)
