Coach, which makes luxury handbags, filed suit in U.S. District Court in Baltimore against 13 shops on the Ocean City boardwalk for allegedly selling counterfeit handbags, wallets and accessories. The lawsuits allege that a Coach investigator went to the stores in June and bought the items for $20 to $75. Authentic Coach handbags sell for around $300. Coach is seeking $2-million in damages for each counterfeit violation at each store or a court order for the store owners to pay Coach all the profits earned from the sale of the items.
