On February 17, the Maryland State Police in Easton arrested a Caroline County man on attempted murder, assault and DUI charges. William Ray Campbell, 39 years old of Denton, was arrested after a state police investigation revealed that Campbell physically assaulted his wife with his fists and a shotgun. Campbell then drove to the home of Thomas Connelly, also of Denton, with the intent to kill Connelly with his shotgun. State Troopers and Caroline Sheriffs Deputies were able to intercept Campbell. A shotgun and ammunition were located in Campbell’s car, and it was determined that Campbell was under the influence of alcoholic beverages. Campbell was arrested and charged with attempted murder, assault and DUI charges. He was held without bond in the Caroline County Detention Center.
