During the commissioners meeting on June 7, members of the Kent County Sheriff’s Office were recognized for their service. Each award recipient received a framed citation and a lapel pin.
Recognized for Controlled Dangerous Substances and Driving While Intoxicated Enforcement – Deputy 1st Class Harry Kettner, Deputy 1st Class Amanda Davis and Deputy 1st Class Michael Piasecki. Sgt. Steven Linz was recognized for his leadership skills and enforcement of CDS, and for being the coordinator for the drug roundup program.
Sheriff’s Accommodation – Deputy 1st Class Ashley Bayne for the way she handled herself and the situation while responding to a domestic violence complaint.
Seizure of Drug Paraphernalia and CDS – Deputy 1st Class Brandon Davis and Cpl. Nathan Blazejack for their work at a residence along Morgnec Road, which included 113 vials of marijuana oil with a street value of $100,000 to $200,000.
Citation – Lt. Scott Metzbower for his work with the Millington Pharmacy robbery in finding evidence that led to a suspects arrest in Pennsylvania as well as the seizure of more than 200 prescription pills.
Civilian Award – Shelly McMath, the victim witness service provider for the sheriff’s office. McMath works with victims of crime to link them with support groups to help them deal with the trauma of being part of a crime. Since the program’s inception McMath has helped more than 900 victims.
